Adding to the celebrations and eternalizing the spirit of 75 years of India’s Independence, a special rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’, titled ‘Three Generations - One Nation’ by Sarod Grand Master Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Bangash, Ayaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan’s 10 year old twins, Zohaan and Abeer. For the first time ever, they joined by the 8th generation of musicians of their family.

Amjad Ali Khan releases very rare ragas in his ‘Library Sessions’. Many of the Ragas have been played for the first time by the Maestro released on Sarod Records YouTube channel. He says “the lockdown allowed me a deeper connection with my music. During the trying times with few distractions and no travelling, I was able to meditate with music in a much more profound manner. Despite a lifetime with the sarod, I see so many fresh avenues opening up because I’m more mindful than ever. The pandemic taught us that humanity needs to consider meditation and contemplation more than ever. I’m glad that I’m able to contribute in my humble way to bringing this serenity and peace to the world.” The Sessions will release on all digital platforms in October 2022.

This double\-album presents Amjad Ali Khan’s compositions for Sarod and Violin as a collection comprising the works previously premiered in three separate albums. The recordings included in this collection represent the culmination of a collaboration that came about through a serendipitous meeting of the artists in 2014 – Amjad Ali Khan, the Titan of the Sarod, straddling two centuries, universally venerated as one of the greatest living Indian musicians in any genre; his sons, disciples and widely acclaimed Sarod virtuosi in their own right, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash; and the distinguished American violinist Elmira Darvarova, herself a historical figure as the first ever (and so far only) woman\-concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York. The first fruit of these artists’ unique joining of forces was their album, SOUL STRINGS, a bridge across which their respective traditions, coming from Indian Classical and Western Art Music genres, were generously shared, each with its expressive and technical integrity intact, rather than squeezed into that oft\-used and abused notion of “fusion.” What that first album suggested subtly, about this daring, supercharged, yet profoundly respectful and even affectionate meeting of musical minds, was later brilliantly confirmed by their second album AMALGAM, which included the inimitable sound of the universally beloved and venerated elder statesman of Indian Classical Music today – Amjad Ali Khan. Drawing on the North and South Indian classical music idioms, AMALGAM not only featured new works but also explored new aesthetic and rhetorical terrain both in terms of the intimate level of phrase and note, as well as at the larger architectonic and structural aspects of the music. The artists offered their third album PEACE WORSHIPERS as a final volume of their trilogy, again with new compositions for Sarod and Violin by Amjad Ali Khan.

On the Sarod icon Amjad Ali Khan’s Birthday on October 9, his grandchildren, Zohaan Ali Bangash and Abeer Ali Bangash (Eight year old Twin sons of Ayaan Ali Bangash) give a surprise present to their grandfather by releasing their first track called Our Love.

The track is based on the traditional Raga Tilak Kamod where they play a composition composed by Amjad Ali Khan. “Both Zohaan and Abeer have to work very hard but this is just a very humble present from these 8 year old twins to their grandfather and guru.

They need all your love and blessings in their musical journey. The current times have been very challenging and it’s amazing how children adapt to new normal. I pray the planet heals soon”- Ayaan Ali Bangash

These are live recordings between 1999 to 2004 recorded in Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi. Over the course of a distinguished career spanning more than six decades, Amjad Ali Khan has won numerous accolades including the Crystal Award by the World Economic Forum, Unicef's National Ambassadorship and the Fukuoka Cultural grand prize. He recently performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert Oslo and The UN Day Concert in New York.

This recording emerges from Amjad Ali Khan's deep and long abiding commitment to peace and tolerance both in the larger world as well as in the smaller communities of city, neighborhood, and the circles of family and friends - a commitment which has taken him to the United Nations and the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo as well as the greatest concert halls and performing venues around the world. This album is the fruit of an approach that these artists have championed in their trilogy of collaborative recordings, Soul Strings, then Amalgam and now Peace Worshipers - boldly sharing their respective traditions and genres with each other while keeping the integrity and character of those traditions intact and exploring the idiom and styles of the other with fearless, ferocious energy and generous enthusiasm.
